Coronavirus: The Department announces 3 strong measures!

Latest News

It was at the administrative center of the department, yesterday afternoon, that Charles-Ange Ginesy and Éric Ciotti held a crisis press conference. Three strong measures were announced to keep the department afloat following the coronavirus epidemic.

In front of a group of journalists, the president of the departmental council and the deputy of the Alpes-Maritimes responded to the speech of the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron.

First of all, following the closure of schools starting Monday, the department decided to deploy a general plan to maintain connectivity. “Middle school students must continue to benefit from lessons. We have therefore decided to allow lessons via videoconference. Tablets are planned for those who do not have one. It will also be possible to follow the CNED (National Center for Distance Education) route. We are in discussions with the academic inspection to be ready as soon as possible,” announced Charles-Ange Ginesy.

“100€ per child for childcare”

Secondly, as announced by the mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, the health and security personnel are expected to be in battle order to face the coronavirus epidemic. “We are unlocking 100€ per child for all working individuals to help them care for their children until the holidays. It is recommended not to use grandparents for childcare; workers must be able to have their children looked after,” stated the president of the departmental council. But parents aren’t the only ones impacted; merchants and artisans are as well. In line with the head of state, the department will support the economy to the tune of 15 million euros.

On this occasion, deputy Eric Ciotti reiterated the request to close the border with Italy. Even if the closure would not prevent the spread of the virus, it would aim to limit it (according to him).
