Coronavirus: the incidence rate exceeds 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Latest News

The fourth wave of Covid-19 is directly impacting the Alpes-Maritimes, the fourth department in France with the highest number of cases.

This Wednesday, the incidence rate has crossed 200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. This hasn’t happened since last April.

The Delta variant, combined with a still insufficient vaccination rate (just over 60% for the first doses in the department), is causing the number of infections to skyrocket. In one week, the number of cases has doubled in the Alpes-Maritimes.

Furthermore, the PCR test positivity rate is also rising (2.2%), which typically indicates an increase in the incidence rate in the following days. However, the number of patients in intensive care remains low, at least for now. To date, there are 129 patients hospitalized for Covid-19 in the Alpes-Maritimes.
