Adding the hospital figures to the still partial number of deaths in nursing homes and other social facilities, the COVID-19 epidemic has claimed the lives of 8,911 people in France since March 1, an increase of 833 people since yesterday. The number of severe cases in intensive care has reached 7,072, compared to 6,978 on Sunday, an increase of 94 cases compared to 140 cases the previous day.
French hospitals have recorded an additional 605 deaths due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 6,494 since the start of the epidemic, the Ministry of Health announced Monday.
The total number of confirmed cases of contamination through PCR testing amounts to 98,010, compared to 92,839 on Sunday, taking into account tests conducted in hospitals and nursing homes.
Health Minister Olivier Véran announced a large-scale testing operation aimed particularly at medico-social establishments.
