On December 6th at the Valrose Castle, the vice-president for international relations at Université Côte d’Azur and the president of Libraries Without Borders (BSF) signed a framework agreement to establish a cooperation.

Founded in 2007, the association Libraries Without Borders aims to bring culture closer to those who are far from it, either through libraries and educational structures or with direct support to the most vulnerable individuals.

Cécile Sabourault, vice-president for international relations at Université Côte d’Azur, expressed her pleasure in this partnership: «It is a great honor for Université Côte d’Azur to be able to engage alongside the NGO Libraries Without Borders in a partnership that allows the involvement of a large number of actors within our institution. This agreement will provide internship opportunities for students and collaborations in areas of training, research, documentary resources, as well as activities committed to peace and citizenship aspects.»

Several forms of cooperation considered

For the moment, several forms of cooperation have already been considered.

The opportunities to valorize the research conducted in various fields will be explored with BSF, and a cooperation is envisaged concerning the master’s program “Worlds of Documentation: Media, Content, Mediation” and more specifically the internship that students must complete during their second year of the master’s program.

Among the forms of cooperation considered, one involves the sponsorship of an “Ideasbox Université Côte d’Azur”. Ideasbox is the emblematic action of Libraries Without Borders, consisting of mobile media libraries in kit form, which can be deployed in less than twenty minutes to create a cultural space of 100m².

Other forms of cooperation are also envisaged. Université Côte d’Azur stated in a communiqué «these are just the initial avenues of a cooperation that promises to be fruitful, and open to the participation of all, students and graduates, administrative staff and teacher-researchers.»
