The past weeks, the controversies surrounding awards for valuable activity in exceptional circumstances during the July 14th attack had taken on an excessive tone.
Everyone wanted their medal!
How to manage this without offending each applicant’s sensitivity and without opening the door to comparison and controversy?
The answer is simple: all the public organizations that were involved during this tragic episode will be awarded a formal recognition.
The prefectural communiqué reports on this.
By decree dated Tuesday, July 4, 2017, the gold medal for acts of courage and dedication is awarded collectively to ten institutions for the heroic action, courage, and immense self-sacrifice of their agents during the attack committed on July 14, 2016, on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice.
These institutions are as follows:
• the departmental public security directorate;
• the departmental gendarmerie group;
• the departmental fire and rescue service;
• the University Hospital Center of Nice;
• the Lenval Foundation;
• the municipal police of the city of Nice;
• the emergency medical-psychological units;
• the interregional directorate of judicial police;
• the Red Cross of the Alpes-Maritimes;
• the Civil Protection of the Alpes-Maritimes.
These institutions will be formally decorated on July 14, 2017, in Nice.
