Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday that adolescents aged 12 to 18 will be able to get vaccinated starting June 15. 50% of French adults have now received a first dose of the vaccine, marking a milestone in the vaccination campaign.
The number of Covid-19 cases continues to decline in France, with 8,743 new cases detected in the 24 hours this Wednesday, compared to 9,848 the previous day. 96 people have died in hospitals since the previous day, bringing the death toll to 83,339 in French hospitals since the beginning of the pandemic.
The number of patients in intensive care is also continuing to decrease, down to 2,754, with 106 admitted since the previous day. In total, hospitals counted 15,638 patients, with 491 admissions since Tuesday.
