The epidemic situation in the Alpes-Maritimes is improving day by day. After reaching a peak incidence rate of over 600 per 100,000, it has now dropped to 115. Similarly, the positivity rate is 3.4 compared to 7.4 at the national level.
However, while this is good news, it’s not enough: we must quickly move towards herd immunity and accelerate the pace of vaccination in the metropolitan area.
Thanks to the Palais des Expositions, inaugurated last January, the largest vaccination center in France with a capacity of 5,000 vaccinations per day, the vaccination rate in the Metropolis is significantly above the national average.
If we tally all the vaccinations, regardless of the place of administration, the vaccination coverage in Nice exceeds 40% of eligible individuals and 38% at the level of the Metropolis.
Today, the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis has surpassed 200,000 in two respects: 200,000 doses administered as of today and over 200,000 people registered on the platform https://vaccincovid19.nice.fr/.
This morning, the President of the Republic announced that appointments not booked 24 hours in advance will be opened to all willing adults, without age restriction, starting from May 12.
Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice and President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, responded to this announcement: “I welcome this decision, which I have been advocating for and which we have already implemented in Nice for several weeks in order to protect as many people as quickly as possible.”
Over the Ascension holiday weekend of May 13, 14, and 15, it is planned to administer just over 15,000 doses in three days.
Vaccination slots will be available to protect those working in the restaurant sector who will resume their activities on May 19.
