As a new phase of the gradual easing of lockdown measures will be reached on Wednesday, June 9, “all indicators are, on the macro scale of the country, in the green,” highlighted Health Minister Olivier Vรฉran on Sunday.

This Monday evening, the figures once again support the minister’s point. Public Health France has reported 2,472 patients hospitalized in critical care due to a Covid-19 infection. This crucial indicator had gone back under the 3,000 mark a week ago and has decreased by more than half since its peak at the end of April, during the height of the third wave of the pandemic. In total, 14,323 patients are currently being cared for in the hospital. For comparison, there were 16,596 patients exactly a week ago.

Finally, health authorities reported 66 new deaths due to Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, which means an average of 76 deaths per day over the past week.

In terms of infections, 1,164 new cases were recorded over the last 24 hours, which is an average of 6,656 per day over the past week.
