As Italy plans to re-lockdown a major part of its territory, France has just crossed, this Friday, the threshold of 90,000 deaths since the beginning of the health crisis. In the last 24 hours, health authorities have recorded 25,229 new cases of Covid-19 and 228 deaths in France, according to the latest information provided by the French Public Health Agency.

The country has thus surpassed the mark of 4 million cases since the beginning of the epidemic. The total count now weighs in at 4,015,560 confirmed cases and 90,146 deaths (including 64,835 in hospitals) since the start of the health crisis.

The positivity rate of tests remains stable at 7.3%. As of March 11, 4,569,849 people have received at least one dose of the vaccine across the entire national territory, which is 232,506 more compared to the previous day.

There have been 9,655 new hospitalizations and 2,203 admissions to intensive care over the past seven days.

In the PACA region

In the PACA region, health authorities have reported that 1,435 people are hospitalized (- 61), 484 people are in intensive care (- 1), and 6,140 people have died from Covid-19 in hospitals since the beginning of the health crisis (+ 32).

As of March 9, 345,794 people have received at least one first dose of the coronavirus vaccine throughout the region. Among them, 171,844 have already received two doses. It is worth noting that more than 30,000 doses were administered this past weekend due to the significant mobilization of many actors, volunteers, and helpers for vaccination.

Overall, more than 30% of the population aged 75 and over have received a first dose of the vaccine, and more than 15% have received both doses.
