Covid-19: In the Alpes-Maritimes, the incidence rate is rising sharply

Latest News

The Delta variant is definitely established in the Alpes-Maritimes. The L452R mutation, found in the Delta variant, has been detected in 90% of positive tests. The figures for the evolution of the Covid-19 epidemic in the Alpes-Maritimes are not good. The vaccination rate (at least one dose) of the population is 57%.

The incidence rate (the number of cases per 100,000 inhabitants) continues to rise: while it was only 66 on July 13, the incidence rate in the Alpes-Maritimes is now 163, making it the fourth highest in metropolitan France. Among 20-29 year-olds, it climbs to 602 (compared to 232 at the last count).

But the indicator that everyone’s eyes are on is the hospital bed occupancy rate. Because this is the real issue of the health crisis: allowing healthcare workers the capacity to receive patients. Currently, 12% of beds are occupied in the Alpes-Maritimes, and this number is not increasing for now. However, caution is advised as the surge in case numbers is still too recent to be reflected in the hospitals.
