Covid-19: Mandatory Vaccination for Healthcare Workers

Latest News

The government continues to warn about the onset of a “fourth wave” of the Covid-19 epidemic.

The Delta variant, estimated to be 50% more contagious than the Alpha variant (known as the “British” variant, itself 50% more contagious than the original strain), is responsible for this epidemic resurgence.

As of July 11, only 61.3% of staff in nursing homes and 81% of private healthcare professionals have received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to Santรฉ publique France.

Vaccination for healthcare workers will become mandatory from September 15. After this date, they will no longer be able to work and will not be paid.

“I am pleased with the decisions of Emmanuel Macron, which I have long wished for. Courageous choices, in the face of a difficult situation, but necessary to avoid another complete lockdown. Local authorities will need to be supported by the State to implement them,” commented Christian Estrosi, mayor of Nice.

A law allowing this will be presented to Parliament soon.
