Covid-19: Masks will be mandatory for skiing this winter

Latest News

The health pass will also become mandatory on ski lifts in case of a deterioration of the epidemic situation, announced Prime Minister Jean Castex on Saturday during a visit to Haute-Savoie.

This health protocol is designed to “ensure” the holding of a “proper season,” after a very difficult winter in 2020 for the mountain sector, with the closure of ski lifts due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

As the new ski season gradually opens, the government has thus opted for a strengthened protocol of mask-wearing in cable cars and outdoors in queues and crowded areas. Physical distancing will also be imposed in the queues for ski lifts, “with random checks.” Once seated on the chairlift, masks can be removed in the open air.

This protocol is set to come into effect at the start of this week.
