The French public health agency, Santรฉ publique France, reported this Wednesday almost 10,000 new Covid-19 cases, nearing the highest level of the epidemic since large-scale testing began in the country, and 1,932 more than the previous day.
Over the past seven days, 976 Covid patients have been hospitalized, which is 250 more compared to the figures announced the day before. On Wednesday evening, around 508 patients were in intensive care (compared to 479 the day before), with 100 admitted in the last twenty-four hours.
However, the positivity rate (the proportion of positive individuals relative to the total number of people tested) remains stable at 5.4%.
Finally, 77 new clusters of infection were detected, compared to 68 on Tuesday evening and 39 on Monday evening. In total, 862 clusters are “under investigation,” including 127 in nursing homes (Ehpad).
