Following a record number of new daily cases since the launch of large-scale testing in France, the country recorded 15,797 new Covid-19 infections in 24 hours this Friday, according to data published by Santรฉ publique France.

The proportion of infected individuals among those tested continues to increase. It is now 6.9%, compared to 6.5% the previous day.

The health agency also notes the “increasingly strong spread” of the virus among the elderly, who are at higher risk of developing a severe form of the disease.
