The number of infections by the new coronavirus reached 29,837 on Sunday, following a new record (32,427) the day before since the launch of large-scale testing.
The positivity rate (the proportion of positive tests compared to the total number of tests conducted) continues to rise rapidly, at 13.2%, compared to 9% just 11 days ago and about 4.5% at the beginning of September. The number of deaths attributed to the disease stands at 85 (down from 90 on Saturday) for Sunday, bringing the total death toll since the beginning of the epidemic to 33,477.
The number of patients suffering from the most severe form of the disease and currently hospitalized in intensive care is 1,939, which is 71 more than the day before.
