After multiple initiatives to combat COVID-19, the regional committee for programming European structural funds awards the city of Nice a sum of two million euros. This funding covers 50% of the expenses incurred since the beginning of the crisis.

The reward follows the allocation of 2.5 million euros to the Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Metropolis for its mask purchases. Nice, in turn, receives financing for its actions since the first lockdown. These include testing, acquiring equipment and funding temporary staff (3,000,000โ‚ฌ), testing and vaccination centers (709,000โ‚ฌ), and implementing vaccination (293,000โ‚ฌ).

“I was the first Mayor to impose a curfew in his city in March 2020, and then to mandate wearing masks in public spaces in August 2020. It is all this work, carried out thanks to the administration of the city of Nice, whose responsiveness I commend, that the European Union rewards today,” declared Christian Estrosi.

The city continues to deploy strategies to fight COVID-19. For now, the focus is on vaccination campaigns.
