The City of Nice has decided to make its mask drive available to a group of students named “Visière solidaire – Makers de Nice” for one day this Friday. They were thus able to deliver more than 1,000 face shields, which they made themselves, to local healthcare professionals, especially thanks to their 3D printers.
During the health crisis, “makers” (or “fabricators”) came together in solidarity to produce face shields using their 3D printers and distributed them free of charge. In the Alpes-Maritimes, more than 15,000 face shields have been distributed by the Makers de Nice, Street Makers 06, Visière Solidaire Valbonne/Sophia, and Visière Solidaire Ouest 06 collectives to healthcare workers.
These collectives from the Alpes-Maritimes got in contact with the “Visière Solidaire 13” collective from Bouches-du-Rhône. They collaborated with the Arts et Métiers in Aix en Provence and the Lycée Jean Perrin in Marseille to set up plastic molding production to manufacture an additional 5,000 face shields, which have been distributed throughout the department.
