Covid-19: the decline continues in intensive care

As the peak of the second wave has likely been reached, according to the health agency, the grip on hospitals is slowly loosening.

Data from the health agency Santรฉ publique France (SpF) reported 276 deaths within 24 hours in hospitals, compared to 386 the previous day, bringing the number of coronavirus-related deaths to 48,518 since the start of the epidemic in France.

Intensive care units were occupied by 4,493 Covid-19 patients on Saturday, with 220 new admissions. This figure continues to decrease for the fifth consecutive day. The day before, these units had 4,566 Covid-19 patients, including 264 new admissions.

In total, 31,365 people carrying the virus were hospitalized on Saturday (regardless of the severity of their condition), compared to 31,875 the previous day.

Similarly, the positivity rate of tests (the proportion of positive individuals compared to the total number of people tested) continues to decline: 14.8% on Saturday compared to 15% the day before.

There is also an improvement in the number of new cases. On Saturday, this figure was 17,881, compared to nearly 23,000 the previous day.
