Covid-19: the decline in new cases continues

The signs of a decline in the epidemic are confirmed: 215 Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, 61 fewer than the previous day, and the test positivity rate has decreased to 14%, Santรฉ Publique France indicated this Sunday evening.

Improvement continues as well in the number of new cases detected. On Sunday, this number was 13,157, compared to 17,881 on Saturday and nearly 23,000 on Friday. Similarly, the test positivity rate (percentage of positive individuals compared to the total number of people tested) continued to drop: 14% on Sunday compared to 14.8% the previous day.

This brings the total number of confirmed Covid cases in France to 2,140,208 since the start of the epidemic, according to health agency data. The number of coronavirus-related deaths totals 48,732, including 33,445 in hospitals.

ICU units were still occupied on Sunday by 4,491 Covid patients, including 171 new admissions. On Saturday, these units had 4,493 Covid patients.

A total of 4,069 clusters (infectious outbreaks) were under investigation, including 1,539 in EHPADs (nursing homes).
