From March 19, the Hervé Gourdel association launched the “Vésubie Solidarity Masks” operation. Since then, 1800 masks have already been made and distributed thanks to around twenty volunteers and with the support of local authorities.
Nine seamstresses mobilized in less than 48 hours to start making fabric masks (in accordance with the model from the Grenoble University Hospital).
Today, this volunteer team consists of 19 seamstresses, 3 “cutters,” 2 driver-deliverers, and 3 logistics managers. The youngest volunteer is 13 years old, the oldest is 78 years old. There are also numerous donors of fabric.
Here is the inventory of the actions undertaken:
✓ More than 1800 masks have been manufactured to date.
✓ The operation has helped equip home aides from three associations working in the valleys of Vésubie, Cians, Var, and Tinée.
✓ Equipment was also provided to nursery staff in the valley.
✓ Distribution of masks through the town halls of St Martin-Vésubie, Venanson, Belvédère, Roquebillière, and Lantosque to elderly and sick people.
✓ Manufacture of 200 sleeves for the Jean-Chanton and St Antoine hospitals.
✓ Preparation of masks for the Roquebillière college, the teams of the La Colmiane station, the Vésubia Mountain Park, and merchants in contact with the public.
✓ Mask training/manufacturing workshops (open to the public from age twelve) will also be offered in partner municipalities. The first took place in St Martin-Vésubie.
