As the Covid-19 epidemic experiences a new surge in mainland France, health authorities recommend expanding the range of populations eligible for a booster vaccination dose to those aged 40 and over, according to a statement on Friday.
The High Authority of Health (HAS) suggests administering this booster six months after the initial vaccination, โthe latest studies indeed suggesting a benefit for this age group.โ
Currently, to counter the decline in vaccine effectiveness over time, only those over 65 and individuals at risk of severe illness are required to receive a booster dose (most often a third dose). Starting from December 15, it will be necessary for them to extend their health pass.
From December 1, this booster dose will be available to those aged 50-64. For other age groups, a booster was not previously on the agenda.
