Good news on the Covid-19 front. The incidence rate, one of the key indicators for measuring the level of the epidemic in France, has dropped below the threshold of 100 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (99.2 on September 12), a first since mid-July (87.9 on July 18), according to the latest data published by Santรฉ publique France this Wednesday. It had risen to nearly 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants a month ago.
The number of hospitalized patients continues to decline with 9,555 people hospitalized due to a Covid infection (an average of 435 new hospitalizations per day over the last seven days).
The decline is also continuing in intensive care units with 1,959 patients, of whom 119 were admitted in the last 24 hours (there were 2,224 a week ago). Covid-19 has claimed the lives of 79 people in the hospital in 24 hours, reported Santรฉ publique France, compared to 100 a week ago.
The infection figures also indicate improvement, with an average of 8,535 cases per day over the past week (9,144 in the last 24 hours).
