Health authorities report 29,344 new cases in 24 hours, averaging 32,978 per day over the past week. Hospital pressure is still being felt, with a slight increase in admissions this Sunday: Public Health France reports 30,789 coronavirus patients currently being cared for, compared to 30,329 on Saturday.
As for severe cases, 5,893 patients are currently in critical care (intensive care, intensive treatment, continuous monitoring), compared to 5,877 on Saturday. 233 patients have been admitted in the past 24 hours. There were 359 the previous day, a number that has remained almost stable for six days.
This Sunday, Public Health France also reports 140 new deaths related to Covid-19 in hospitals, compared to 189 yesterday. To date, Covid-19 has claimed 100,733 lives in France.
More than 12.5 million people have received a dose
As the vaccination campaign accelerates, Public Health France notes that as of April 17, 12,508,863 people have received at least one injection (which represents 18% of the total population and 23% of the adult population) and 4,505,662 people have received two injections.
