The pressure on French intensive care units continues to rise. 5,984 Covid-19 patients were hospitalized in these facilities on Tuesday, including 601 people admitted in the past 24 hours, compared to 5,970 the day before.
In total, hospitals had 31,086 people affected by Covid-19, with 2,404 admissions in 24 hours. 375 people died in the past 24 hours in French hospitals, bringing the death toll in hospitals to 75,385.
On the vaccination front, 12,999,655 people have received at least one dose since the start of the campaign (or 19.4% of the total population) and 4,845,217 people have received two doses (or 7.2% of the total population). In the past 24 hours, 418,766 people have been vaccinated: among them, 248,557 received a first dose and 170,209 a second.
Over 3 million deaths
The new coronavirus pandemic has caused at least 3,031,441 deaths worldwide since December 2019, according to a tally by AFP from official sources.
The United States has the highest number of deaths with 567,729, followed by Brazil (374,682), Mexico (212,466), India (180,530), and the United Kingdom (127,274).
