Covid-19: The number of infections is skyrocketing

Nearly 18,000, more precisely, 18,181 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours. This is the highest level since May 19 (19,050 cases). There were 6,950 cases a week ago.


This Tuesday, according to figures from Santรฉ publique France, 6,912 patients are hospitalized. A week ago, last Tuesday, there were 7,076. However, the number of new admissions has increased over the week: 327 new admissions have been recorded, compared to 246 last Tuesday.

In critical care units (intensive care, continuous monitoring, and resuscitation), the number has fallen below 900 patients, with 876 people. Last Tuesday, there were 933. 61 admissions have been recorded in critical care units.

33 new deaths have been reported in hospitals compared to 22 last Tuesday. In total, 85,020 deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported in hospitals since the start of COVID-19.

Vaccination continues. A total of 822,201 injections have been administered, including 374,931 first doses, revealed the Directorate General of Health this Tuesday evening. Overall, 38,184,499 French people have received at least one dose of the vaccine (56.6% of the total population), and 31,310,025 have a complete vaccination regimen (46.4%).
