The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care rose just above 6,000 people this Monday, April 26, according to figures published by Santรฉ publique France. A total of 6,001 people are currently in critical care units (which include intensive care, high dependency, and continuous monitoring) compared to 5,978 patients on Sunday.

In 24 hours, 470 patients were admitted to these units, which treat the most severe cases, compared to 218 new patients the previous day.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, where signals remain “encouraging,” the regional health agency reported 9 new deaths linked to Covid-19 since its last update on Friday.

Since the beginning of the epidemic, the coronavirus has claimed 1,903 lives in the department (446 in nursing homes, 1,457 in hospitals).

In terms of vaccination, 19,990,000 injections have been administered since the start of the campaign at the end of December. 14,297,308 people have received at least one injection, representing 21.3% of the total population, and 5,691,519 have received two injections, accounting for 8.5% of the French population.
