The health authorities’ report for this Wednesday confirms the slow decline of the epidemic in France, despite more than 19,000 new infections and over 21,000 patients still hospitalized. In the last 24 hours, 712 new patients have had to be hospitalized.
The reprieve also seems to be reaching critical care services. This Wednesday, the number of patients hospitalized in these specialized services has symbolically dropped below 4,000, with 3,862 patients being cared for. There were 4,583 just seven days ago.
Regarding mortality, a more variable figure, the authorities regret 141 new deaths related to Covid-19 over the past 24 hours. The total number of deaths crosses the threshold of 108,181 this Wednesday.
The Directorate General of Health (DGS) indicates that, since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 21,555,516 people have received at least one injection (representing 32.2% of the total population and 41% of the adult population), and 9,260,992 people have received two injections (representing 13.8% of the total population and 17.6% of the adult population).
