The threshold of 500,000 daily tests was crossed again on March 14, for the first time since February 21.
Last week, nearly three million tests were validated by a healthcare professional. This number has been increasing for the past two weeks.
Even though most health restrictions have been lifted, the government is counting on a measured rebound in infections by April. In mid-March, the Pasteur Institute published forecasts predicting an “increase in hospital admissions in the coming days.”
However, even in the worst-case scenario, the peak of the rebound would remain significantly lower than that of January. “We are extremely vigilant,” commented the Minister of Health, urging vulnerable individuals to continue “protecting themselves” and wearing masks.
