Covid-19: the situation could worsen

Infections have been on the rise again for a week, with 4,256 reported in the latest count this Sunday evening, according to Public Health France: more than one in two Covid-19 cases in France is suspected to be the Delta variant.


However, for the time being, the spread of this much more contagious variant is not yet being felt in hospitals.
This Friday, 7,183 people were hospitalized due to a coronavirus-related infection, the same number as the previous day, according to Public Health France.

Among these hospitalized patients, 947 are in critical care units, the same number as the previous day. They were 1,123 a week ago.
Since the start of the epidemic in France, at least 111,325 Covid-19 patients have died, including 84,852 in hospitals.

Furthermore, since the beginning of the vaccination campaign in France, 35,788,198 people have received at least one injection (representing 53.1% of the total population), and 27,385,182 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (representing 40.6% of the total population).
