The decline of the epidemic, which began more than a month ago, continues. This Tuesday, hospitals are housing 16,088 patients with Covid-19, compared to just over 19,000 a week ago.
Health authorities report 2,825 patients registered in these services for a Covid-19 infection, compared to 3,447 last Tuesday. Meanwhile, 137 patients have died in hospitals in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll since the start of the epidemic to 109,691.
Regarding infections, roughly 9,848 new cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours. This is a higher figure than usual but includes a backlog from the previous day, as noted by Santรฉ Publique France on its website Monday.
As for the vaccination campaign, which has been open to all adults since the beginning of the week, it continues to accelerate.
As of June 1st, more than 26 million people have received their first injection: 26,176,709 in total (representing 39.1% of the total population and 49.8% of the adult population). Finally, 11,220,050 people have received both injections (representing 16.7% of the total population and 21.4% of the adult population), according to the Directorate General of Health.
