Covid-19: the threshold of 10,000 deaths reached

Latest News

The Covid-19 epidemic has claimed more than 10,000 lives in France. “Since March 1st, we have mourned 7,091 deaths in hospitals,” announced Jérôme Salomon, including 607 in the last 24 hours in a hospital setting. He specified that 82% of the deceased were over 70 years old.

There have also been 802 deaths in nursing homes (EHPAD) over the last 24 hours (3,237 in total), a high number, likely due to data entry delays over the weekend.

This evening, France has 305 additional patients hospitalized for a Covid-19 infection, bringing the total to 30,000 people. There are 7,131 patients in intensive care, of which 61% are between 60 and 80 years old, and 104 of them are under 30. There have been 518 new admissions to intensive care, resulting in 59 more patients to manage when accounting for discharges.

There have been 19,337 recoveries since the beginning of the crisis, not counting the tens of thousands of individuals who recovered without hospitalization.
