It’s official, the “April peak” in the number of hospitalizations related to the coronavirus has been surpassed.

According to figures published this Thursday evening by Public Health France, 32,654 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized in France, compared to 31,918 the previous day, which represents 2,371 new admissions in 24 hours.
In 24 hours, 418 COVID-19 patients died in hospitals compared to 329 the previous day. The new deaths bring the total death toll from COVID-19 in France to 42,960 (hospitals, nursing homes, and other medical-social establishments).

In intensive care units, admissions are also on the rise with 93 new pathologies called Covid+, for a total of 4,889 patients affected by the coronavirus in these units. The total capacity of all pathologies combined in intensive care units in France has already been increased from 5,000 to 6,400 beds and is expected to soon reach 7,500.

The test positivity rate remains high: it was 18.7% this Thursday compared to 4.4% at the beginning of September.
