The report from the health authorities for this Wednesday confirms the slow decline of the epidemic in France, despite more than 21,000 new infections and over 24,000 patients still hospitalized.

Public Health France counts 185 new deaths. In total, since the beginning of the epidemic in France, over 107,000 people have lost their lives due to an infection from the novel coronavirus.

In hospitals, 24,254 patients are currently being cared for. Of this number, 4,583 patients are occupying critical care beds, compared to 4,743 on Tuesday, and 5,402 last Wednesday.

On this official day of opening vaccinations to all, only for the remaining doses, 636,336 people received a vaccine dose this Wednesday (406,080 for the first dose, 230,256 for the second) according to the preliminary reports from the General Directorate of Health (DGS).

In total, 18,911,865 French people have received a dose (28.2% of the total population and 36.0% of the adult population), 8,473,471 have had two doses (12.6% of the total population and 16.1% of the adult population).
