The High Authority of Health (HAS) has expressed support for access to a “second booster” vaccination for people over 65 at risk of severe forms of the disease, according to an opinion published on Friday, March 18.
The authority believes that this new dose (the fourth in most cases) should be “reserved” for this category and only offered to those “who wish it.”
It advises maintaining an interval of at least six months with the previous booster dose, “to avoid reducing the population’s adherence to vaccination due to too frequent boosters.”
This second booster has already been available since Saturday for those over 80 and residents of nursing homes, whether or not they present specific risk factors.
