In a letter addressed to the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, this Tuesday, the president of the Alpes-Maritimes department, Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy, reported the health situation in the 06, where the incidence rate remains particularly high.
For Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy, the situation is urgent! In his letter written last Tuesday, the president of the 06 department stated to Prime Minister Jean Castex that the Alpes-Maritimes are experiencing a very high incidence rate related to Covid-19. The health situation is increasingly critical, and the allocated vaccine doses remain insufficient to implement massive vaccination to counter the epidemic.
“Given the particularly high incidence rate in the Alpes-Maritimes, one of the highest in France, I regret that the vaccine supply allocated to this territory – 9,600 doses for the past week – is very largely insufficient to carry out mass vaccination.”
Charles-Ange Ginรฉsy also recalls that “the portion of the most vulnerable populations to Coronavirus designated as priorities by the government represents 30% of the Alpes-Maritimes population, which includes 329,000 seniors, four points above the national average.”
The departmental community is tasked with ensuring citizen equity in terms of vaccine access, by deploying fixed vaccination centers as well as mobile vaccination teams in the Middle and Upper Country, where 90% of the population of the Alpes-Maritimes resides. This organization is operational today, but it could very well falter if the vaccine shortage persists.
The president of the 06 therefore calls on the Prime Minister to “increase vaccine deliveries to the Alpes-Maritimes, a department whose health and demographic data require stronger national solidarity.”
