MPs adopted, in the night from Wednesday to this Thursday, and in the first reading, the extension of the health pass. The โhealth vigilanceโ bill allows for the maintenance of the measure until July 31, 2022. Adopted with only a 10-vote margin, the text will be examined in the Senate starting October 28.
This was the tenth health-related text since the outbreak of COVID-19. The examination of the health vigilance bill in the Assembly prompted intense discussions from opposition benches, which, with the presidential election approaching, are less inclined than ever to give any advantage to the government. However, it also led to some questioning from within the majority ranks.
The government wants to avoid having to pass new health provisions just before the presidential election. This bill allows it to extend the legal framework in which it can use the health pass until next July 31, after the presidential and legislative elections.
