Prime Minister Jean Castex announced this Monday morning that the StopCovid app will receive a significant update on October 22nd. It will even have a new name and feature several changes, including the possibility of setting up local alerts.

The new version of StopCovid will arrive on October 22nd: this was announced by Prime Minister Jean Castex this Monday morning during an interview on Franceinfo. “The government, the President of the Republic, have requested work on a new version, which will be officially launched on October 22nd, and at that time, I will download it,” declared the Prime Minister, who admitted at the end of September that he did not have StopCovid on his phone.

According to information provided this Monday morning by Europe 1, this update will also include a name change: it will become Alerte Covid. More broadly, according to this radio station, the contact time required between two users of the app for a notification to be sent to one if the other tests positive should be reduced from the current 15 minutes to five in the new version.

The app should also be more focused on information, with the possibility of activating local notifications to stay informed about the situation’s developments and the current restrictions at the regional level.
