Covid: France is catching up on its vaccination delay

Latest News

With 47.8 million first doses administered by Tuesday evening, accounting for nearly 71% of the total population, France indeed ranks among the top performers. Neck and neck with the United Kingdom, it surpassed Germany at the end of July (current score: 64%), Italy at the beginning of August (69%), and Israel on August 11 (68%).

However, it is still far behind the world leaders, Portugal (81%) and Spain (76%). European comparisons are particularly interesting because deliveries are generally made at the same time and proportionate to the population of each stateโ€”except for exceptions.

The French people’s acceptance of the Covid vaccine is as impressive as the surveys before the epidemic, which showed a very high level of distrust.*

The French boost is mainly due to the immunization of younger people, especially teenagers. Eligible for vaccination only since June 15, 58% of 12-17 year olds have received their first dose.
