Covid: More than half of Europeans are now fully vaccinated.

A symbolic threshold was crossed this Thursday on the Old Continent, even though it is still insufficient to claim the eradication of the epidemic.

Two hundred million Europeans now have a complete vaccination schedule, which is 54.7% of people living in the Union. More than two-thirds of adults have already received their first dose, while the European Commission has set a target of 70% of adults vaccinated this summer.

According to the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), the rate of adults having received at least one dose of vaccine ranges from over 80% in Malta, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark, to less than 50% in several Eastern European countries.

France is in the average range of EU countries, with 70.9% of adults having received at least one vaccine dose, and 53% of its population fully vaccinated.

According to Prime Minister Jean Castex, the goal of 40 million first-time vaccine recipients is expected to be reached by the end of July.
