Covid: Positivity and incidence rates soar in Paca

The circulation of Covid-19 has never been so high, according to figures from the regional health agency (ARS Paca).

The figures provided by ARS Paca are based on the week of January 17 to 23. The regional positivity rate is 29.1%. It has risen sharply compared to the previous week (22.6%).

Less aggressive, but more contagious, it is also the Omicron variant that is causing positivity numbers to skyrocket. It is found in more than 95% of cases.

Similarly, the incidence rate reaches 3,904 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at the regional level, compared to 3,181 the previous week.

In hospitals, the number of patients admitted to critical care for Covid is stable, with an occupancy rate that remains very high.
There is a 3% increase in conventional hospitalizations for Covid (+9% if patients hospitalized for another cause but who test positive for Covid are included, notes ARS Paca).

Hospital mortality is decreasing but remains significant, with 194 deaths in one week.

The vaccination coverage of the population in Paca is 75%.

The 50-64 and 65-74 age groups are the most vaccinated (91-92%). The 18-49 age group is vaccinated at 85% and the 12-17 age group at 66%.
