Public Health France reported on Tuesday 10,008 new coronavirus infections within twenty-four hours, nearly 5,000 more than the previous day, although Monday’s figures are often lower than those for the rest of the week.
According to them, the number of patients hospitalized over the past seven days stands at 4,244, which is 141 more than on Monday. Among them, 651 were admitted to intensive care, 13 more than the previous day. The test positivity rate increased over twenty-four hours from 5.9% to 6.1%, and 61 new clusters of infections were identified, bringing the total to 1,031 clusters.
Additionally, sixty-eight more deaths were recorded, Public Health France adds, bringing the French toll to 31,416 deaths since the beginning of the epidemic. Monday’s toll was 31,338 deaths, which means there were 78, not 68, fewer deaths. This discrepancy has not been explained at this stage.
