The Scientific Council supports the inclusion of the “third dose” in the health pass. It recommends considering a booster shot for all adults. This round of mass vaccination will be conducted mainly through pharmacies.
The Scientific Council endorses the recommendations recently made by the Vaccine Strategy Orientation Council (COSV), chaired by Alain Fischer. These include lowering the age for the booster shot to 50 years, starting December 1.
According to the COSV’s opinion issued on Friday, this measure could potentially reduce the number of hospitalizations and critical care admissions by 40% to 50%. For the Scientific Council, the booster dose should also be included in the health pass for those over 50, while still giving them time to get vaccinated.
With the recent surge in the incidence rate, which exceeds 170 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, queues might reappear at the entrances of vaccination centers.
Therefore, it’s the city network that will take over. Pharmacists alone perform 70% of the injections.
