The Crossover Festival offers a reinterpretation of the city’s territory by organizing its events in iconic places such as the Chantier Sang Neuf (former slaughterhouses), the Opera, the Théâtre de Verdure, the Parc du Château, and the Hi Beach… Day and night: music, cinema, literature, dance, art, and board sports…
Departure for a journey in a city transformed into a festival stage, where the public will become part of the celebration… The first stop will take place at Villa Arson (National Center for Contemporary Art) this Wednesday, May 28th (the eve of a public holiday)!
The opening night at Villa Arson will feature half of the duo Aeroplane performing as The Magician. Having become one of the most in-demand DJs since his remix of Lykke Li, The Magician dazzles the dance floor with his disco house universe… Munk, from the famous independent label Gomma, described as the counterpart of James Murphy’s DFA Records (ex-LCD Soundsystem), will also host this first night of Crossover. The locals for this stage will be Reno and Inconito. As for the visual part, the eclectic VJ Oof will be in charge.
Other disciplines will also be showcased: a new carte blanche is given to Héliotrope / “Un Festival C’est Trop Court!” which will present a Scopitone program: an exclusive recent selection (and not only) of music videos for Crossover, with a strong electro presence from artists programmed at the festival (Rone, Moderat, James Holden…), some gems of the year (Flying Lotus, Jon Hopkins), timeless old-timers (Aphex Twin), and always some surprises coming from nowhere, well… from the Internet.
The rotunda, located in the gardens of Villa Arson, will be occupied by a company specializing in well-being that offers high-end services. This company promises to achieve optimal balance through a personal development program and various tutorials. The Kiki & Lalla Pack will be exceptionally showcased for the first time at the Crossover festival inauguration. Leading it is a crazy duo: Christian Chapiron (Kiki Picasso), a graphic designer, illustrator, painter, and videographer with a remarkable career, and Lalla Morte, an actress and performer.
The Original France troupe, comprising about twenty breakdance and new style hip-hop dancers, will perform demonstrations outside and may even teach a few steps to the most curious. The troupe has performed in many countries, including China, where it won the best performance prize and the audience award.
You got it: between music, VJing, screenings, artistic performances, and dance, this evening alone will fulfill all the promises of Crossover!
