Latest News

France ranks just behind Sweden and Finland in CSR performance.

At a time when the topic of social, societal and environmental responsibility (CSR) is gaining increasing importance and becoming a competitive factor, we can be pleased with the strong position of French companies. A study (*) recently published by the specialized agency EcoVadis and the business mediator shows that French companies maintain their 3rd place worldwide in CSR management and demonstrate a growing commitment to responsible purchasing.

With a score of 54.3%, just behind Sweden (54.4%) and Finland (55.9%), France is above the European average (52.5%), OECD (51%), global (47%) and, of course, the BRICS countries (38.3%). Germany is ranked 15th in the world, with a score of 50.4%, and the United States is 25th, with a score of 46.4%.

From ranking 7th in the world in 2015, France has progressed to reach 3rd place in 2019. It keeps its spot this year, notably thanks to a group of 19% of companies acting as ‘locomotives’ in these areas.

In detail, it appears that French companies rank 1st globally for the theme “social and human rights,” with a score of 58.2%, an increase of 14% since 2015. There is also a very good performance in environmental subjects, with a score of 54.9% (9% growth). Ethical topics receive a rating of 49.7%, with an increase of about 20% since 2015, related to the implementation of the Sapin II law.

The theme of responsible purchasing is historically the least mature. Certainly, France ranks 3rd globally, but with a limited score of 44.1%, an increase of only 4% since 2015.
