For this mid-December, the MJC Picaud offers you two major events that you must not miss under any circumstances. Indeed, jazz lovers, this week you will be delighted and well-served as we invite you to our annual Jazz en Scène event.
This year, the program includes the opportunity to enjoy discovering Agafia and Sophie Alour on stage.
The next day is dedicated to young talents, discovery, and encounters. This Saturday, December 11th, MJC Picaud offers you a day dedicated to contemporary music, starting with a workshop led by Gil Pagès from Arcade on Artist Management. Then, a concert highlighting discoveries from SMAC PACA as part of the Tour de Chauffe tour.

After numerous improvisation sessions and collaborating on various projects, Laurent Paris and Marc Maffiolo decided in 2009 to continue their work together on improvisation, writing, and occupying auditory space. Agafia focuses on the urgency of situations, explores sound in all its nuances, and develops a minimalist writing style that prioritizes direct expression. Shocks, flows, and opposing currents shape their music.

SOPHIE ALOUR (Ile de France)

As part of Jazz en Scène, Sophie Alour will present her new album Opus 3. The melodic lines are refined, and the music is designed to allow more room for improvisation, with each role redefined. Moreover, the repertoire is approached in the same way, whether rooted in jazz tradition or influenced by rock.
The trio naturally became the perfect playground for this search for simplicity. The absence of a harmonic instrument and the reduced number of musicians completely reshuffle the improvisational deck.

8 PM: TOUR DE CHAUFFE DISCOVERY TOUR
Tour de Chauffe gathers a musical lineup featuring several groups discovered over the year by Contemporary Music Venues in the PACA Region. It serves as a magnificent showcase, bringing together a vibrant array of musical practices from each department artistically varied. “Tour de Chauffe” offers an impressive lineup of five colorful evenings representing all styles of Contemporary Music: from pop to funk to French chanson.
For its 7th edition, the 2010 tour promises to be thrilling once again with: OK Bonnie, Lipstick, Water Pipe Cult, and Spurt of Sound.
