Culture in Nice Schools: Call for Applications

Latest News

As part of the “100% Culture in Schools Plan” project, the city of Nice is launching a call for applications from metropolitan cultural actors to participate in Nice’s schools.

“The project can take the form of a creation-transmission residency or an artistic practice workshop,” the city specifies in a press release. The mayor wishes for children to benefit from cultural and artistic education. This plan is divided into five themes: musical education, visual arts, heritage and literature, visual media, and performing arts.

This initiative is underway for this school year in 21 schools in Nice, reaching 5,000 students. It has been made possible thanks to the participation of 18 cultural associations and companies.
The goal is to continue this plan by applying it to all the city’s schools, a total of 151, by the next school year.

“Associations with academic or national accreditation as well as individuals with a competency certificate issued by the DRAC (Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs) may apply.” Those without these official authorizations can still be considered. The jury will consider the professional background of applicants and the interventions they have made with young people or students.

The city outlines in the press release the objectives of these school interventions, such as: “High-quality interventions at the pedagogical, artistic, and cultural levels. The discovery of artistic professions and encounters with cultural professionals. The development of cultural knowledge and artistic skills,” among others.

They can submit their application for one or two projects. At the end of March, the jury will select the shortlisted applications, and by the end of May, they will be approved. The call for candidates ends on February 25th.
