The President of the Departmental Council, Charles Ange Ginésy, presented the department’s cultural program for the summer season 2020 alongside Eric Ciotti and in the presence of Anne-Marie Dumont.
A large number of cultural actors and actresses from the Alpes-Maritimes were present at the announcement of the cultural program for the summer season 2020 on Friday, June 26. Announcements awaited like a messiah due to the difficulties facing the world of performance and entertainment.
Therefore, with the aim of contributing to the revival of this sector, which has been severely affected by the health crisis, the department decided to maintain the cultural program planned for this summer.
No less than 400 shows will be offered free of charge in 150 municipalities across the department. This organization will allow nearly 1,200 artists and technicians to practice their craft freely.
The program will be divided into three sections: the Summer Evenings (from June 27 to September 20), the Festival of Words (provisional dates from July 18 to August 14), and Jazz Art Lympia (from July 16 to August 20). The overall organization of these different cultural events amounts to 17 million euros for the department.
A varied program
Numerous renowned artists will be present this year, notably at the 8th edition of the Festival of Words including Michel Boujenah, Richard Berry, Isabelle Carré accompanied by Irène Jacob, Fanny Cottençon, Christophe Malavoy, and Mathilda May.
On its part, the Summer Evenings will offer an eclectic program, featuring evenings with rock, French variety, blues, and classical music.
To complement everything, the rooftop terrace of Espace Lympia will transform into an open-air jazz club to host various performances every Thursday during the second edition of the Jazz Art Lympia festival.
