Culture is preparing for its relaunch in the post-Covid era.

After the reopening of MAMAC, the Matisse Museum, and the Masséna Museum, with managed and regulated capacities, by the end of the month, it will gradually be the turn of the Archaeology Museums Nice Cimiez, the Naive Art Museum, the Terra Amata Prehistory Museum, the Photography Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Palais Lascaris, and L’Artistique (Ferrero donation space part).

The area of the museums in Nice, their configurations, and their staffing indeed allow for this gradual reopening.

Similarly, the Louis Nucéra, Raoul Mille, Caucade, Saint Roch, and Fontaine du Temple libraries, from May 18 to 23, will offer a “drive” system by appointment for readers who have reserved documents.

Access to the public in these libraries will be possible from May 25 to 29 with limited and controlled capacity for lending operations. Public reception across the entire network of libraries will begin on June 2 with summer hours.

Once this return to normalcy caused by the pandemic, which disrupted cultural life, is settled, the new objective is to prepare a recovery plan for culture for the summer and autumn.

The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, is adamant: “We will need to innovate, and we will be more present than ever to support artists!”

As usual, he wants to aim high: “The culture budget is obviously protected, and we are already working on several avenues, such as extending the support fund for small businesses to all structures holding an entertainment business license to help producers, companies, theaters, and artist-authors. A flat-rate rental support of 500 euros per month can be unlocked to help musicians, actors, and dancers work in their premises.”

While a support fund of 0.5 million euros has been unlocked, a large summer exhibition is planned at 109.

“It would be a great showcase of the talents of our artists,” affirmed Christian Estrosi.
