Following the example of the Odรฉon Theater and other venues, a handful of theater professionals have taken matters into their own hands by occupying the forecourt of the TNT. Due to COVID, the theater is currently closed to the public, like all cultural establishments.
This group, nearly a hundred freelancers, precarious workers, and yellow vests, gathered this Monday morning on the forecourt of the TNN. In a mix of anxiety, hope, celebration, and struggle. And, for good measure, with economic demands, of course! Things seen before. The collective is inviting people this Tuesday at 2 PM on the forecourt of the Thรฉรขtre de Nice “for an open agora for everyone.” The occupation of the theater is also on the agenda.
In a statement, the TNN explains its position. The management wishes to engage with the group to support the national movement, “this common struggle,” and to make the demands of the cultural sector heard. The management calls for “a dialogue with the State for fair decisions and respect for the cultural sector under pressure.”
The management will allow access to the theater’s public hall. But this reception of outside people must imperatively take place under sanitary safety conditions.
