Cycling: The NMCA Goes International

Latest News

Like all professional and semi-pro teams in the peloton, the Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur was present on the routes of the various national championships. Here’s a recap of the different results.

It is not always easy to compete against the big stars of the peloton. The Nice Métropole Côte d’Azur took part in two national championships. In France, of course, but also in Luxemburg at Berbourg. Joining the team this year, Larry Valvasori registered for the team race… solo. Paradoxical when you consider that he did not compete in the individual time trial, where he finished in 7th place in 2021 and 2022. Therefore, it was in the road race where the Luxembourger attempted to shine. But alone on a 142 km course, he was forced to abandon in the last few kilometers.

A Good Time Trial in Cassel

The rest of the team was present at the French championships in Brittany at Cassel. On a very hilly course and under extremely high temperatures, especially on Sunday, the NMCA tried hard to shine. While none of the ten riders at the start line of the Sunday road race crossed the finish line (as did 107 of the 130 participants), the time trial proved to be more successful. Much credit goes to Julian Lino. By finishing in 26th place out of 82 participants, he came in 3’30” behind the winner Rémi Cavagna. A great result for a rider in a Continental team competing against a world-class time trial specialist.
A promising sign for the rest of the season at the Tour d’Alsace and then the Tour de l’Ain at the end of July.
